Subspecies
Population of Gabon and Cameroon have been assigned to subspecies maclatchyi, but doubtfully valid.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
sparsa Eyton, 1838 - Southern Africa south of Zimbabwe.
leucostigma Rüppell, 1845 - Western equatorial Africa; eastern Africa south to Zimbabwe.
