Declining, now rare and endangered.
Habitat
Rainforests. Eucalypt woodlands and coastal scrubs adjacent to rainforest. Timbered watercourses, paperbark woodlands. Occasionally visits gardens and orchards to feed on figs, loquats and other fruit tree. From sea-level - 1,600 m.

Cape York Peninsula, in the vicinity of Lockart and Claudie Ranges, from Cooktown, Qld south to Eungella National Park, and from about Gladstone, Qld south to about Hastings, New South Wales.

Food
Seeds, fruits and berries. Occasionally nectar, insect larvae and fungi from bark.
Voice
A shrill, penetrating 'tseet', repeated two or three times, in contact in flight. A high-pitched, rolling screech in alarm.
Breeding Season (Guide)
Mainly September - November.
Nest
In a hollow of a tree.
Eggs (Guide)
2; white; rounded; about 22 x 19 mm. Incubation: about 18 days; by female.
Young
Fledge in 49 - 56 days.
Subspecies
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Double-eyed Fig-parrot (Cyclopsitta diophthalma).
No subspecies.
Similar Species
Little Lorikeet (Glossopsitta pusilla), which has a finer, and black bill, red on the face does not extend behind the eye, and has no blue in its plumage.
