Nelson, 1912

Habitat
Understorey of montane humid forest and edge. From 1,050 - 1,200 m, occasionally 600 - 1,650 m.

Range (Guide)
Colombia (B), Panama (B).

Eastern Panama (Cerro Sapo and Cerro Pirre, in Darién) and extreme north-western Colombia (Alturas de Nique, Chocó).
 
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Status NT
Habitat destruction is the main threat.

Subspecies
Considered a close relative of Goldmania and perhaps of Hylocharis, sharing with former the long, stiffened central undertail-coverts. Behaviour and external morphology show similarities with Eupherusa.

No subspecies.
