Subspecies
No subspecies.
Relationships uncertain. Has been considered to be a thrush (Turdidae) or an Old World warbler (Sylviidae), and in recent years generally treated as an Old World flycatcher (Muscicapidae). Perhaps unlikely to belong in present family (which exhibits inability to cross large stretches of water), and vocalizations indicate possible link with warbler genus Sylvia. On the other hand, bill morphology similar to that of Illadopsis, and voice resembles also those of Kupeornis and Ptyrticus, supporting placement in present family. Further research is required.
