Habitat
Lowland dipterocarp and swamp forest, mangroves, plantations. From sea-level - 1,200 m.

Range (Guide)
Brunei Darussalam (B) (R).

Natuna Is and Belitung I (off western and south-western Borneo).
 
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2011).

Subspecies
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Crested Serpent-Eagle (Spilornis cheela).
