Habitat
Humid montane forest and forest edge on outlying ridges. From 250 - 1,050 m.
Colombia (B), Ecuador (B), Peru (B).
Eastern Andean foothills of southern Colombia, north-eastern Ecuador, north-eastern Peru and extreme north-western Brazil.
 
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.
Status VU
Habitat destruction and degradtion through clearance for agriculture and cattle pasture, low-intensity farming, tea and coffee growing, mining operations and logging, are the main threats.

Formerly isolated in monospecific genus Agapeta . Probably closely related to Rufous-webbed Brilliant (Heliodoxa branickii ).
