(Temminck & Schlegel, 1850)

Habitat
Prefers rocky coasts, but may also visit coastal lagoons and estuaries.

Range (Guide)
China (mainland), Japan, North Korea (B), Russia (Asian), South Korea, Taiwan (China).

Population
Estimated population is 25,000 - 100,000 (2010).

Voice
A gruff 'guwaa', deep rolling 'guwawawa' or 'gurururu' at colonies.

Subspecies
Synonymous with Phalacrocorax filamentosus. May form superspecies with Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo).

No subspecies.
