Mature, subtropical, broadleaf evergreen forest near hilltops.

Japan (B).

Northern Okinawa.

Population
Estimated population is 150 - 584 (2010) and decreasing.

Habits
Feeds on the ground and in the canopy.

Voice
A sharp 'kwe kwe kwe', a whiplash-like 'pwip' or 'whit'. A hard 'kyo' or 'kyu-kyu-kup' uttered in contact. Highly vocal, all year round. Drum rolls vary in length but accelerate.
