Subspecies
Appears not closely related to other Caribbean members of genus. Subspecies bairdi of Cayman Is apparently extinct.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- leucopteryx (Wagler, 1827) - Jamaica.
- lawrencii Cory, 1887 - San Andrés I (east of Nicaragua).
- bairdi ! Cory, 1886 - Grand Cayman I. (extinct ca 1967).
