Habitat
Grasslands, paddyfields, cultivated areas, towns.
Cambodia, China (mainland), Laos (B), Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam.
Vagrant to Brunei Darussalam.
Myanmar (except western and south-west) and southern and south-eastern China (southern from Yunnan and northern Fujian) south to northern peninsular Thailand and southern Indochina. Introduced in Taiwan.

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Often in small groups, foraging on the ground.
