Subspecies
No subspecies.

Forms a superspecies with Common Magpie (Pica pica), Yellow-billed Magpie (Pica nutalli) and Black-billed Magpie (Pica hudsonia). Often treated as conspecific with Common Magpie (Pica pica), but isolation within very restricted range and differences in vocalizations and structural features suggest that treatment as a separate species warranted.
