Subspecies
Relationships of genus uncertain. Formerly placed with thrushes (Turdidae), and possibly does not belong with present family.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

occidentalis Rand, 1940 - Oranje Mts, in central New Guinea.
sclateriana De Vis, 1892 - Mountains of south-eastern New Guinea (Mt Albert Edward, English Peaks, Mt Scratchley, Mt Kenevi, Mt Suckling).
