South-eastern Brazil, from south-eastern Bahia south to north-eastern Santa Catarina, extending inland to east-central Minas Gerais and western Sío Paulo.

Subspecies
Members of genus form a well-defined clade, and appear to be closely related to Hypocnemis. Closely related to Bertoni's Antbird (Drymophila rubricollis), until recently treated as conspecific.
