Subspecies
Megalaima oorti (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Black-browed Barbet (Psilopogon oorti), Chinese Barbet (Psilopogon faber) and Taiwan Barbet (Psilopogon nuchalis) following Collar (2006).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Black-browed Barbet (Psilopogon oorti).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
sini (Stresemann, 1929) - Southern China (Guangxi). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Black-browed Barbet (Psilopogon oorti).
faber (Swinhoe, 1870) - Southern China, Hainan. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Black-browed Barbet (Psilopogon oorti).
