Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest.
Réunion (E) (B).
Status EX
Known only from fossils found on Réunion. It presumably became extinct soon after the island's colonisation in the early 17th century. Extinction was presumably caused by hunting, deforestation and the predation by introduced species.
