Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

flavicollis (Bonaparte, 1850) - Java.
prillwitzi (Hartert, 1901) - Kangean Is, east of north-eastern Java. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Kangean Tit-Babbler (Mixornis prillwitzi).
