Dense thickets in the understorey of primary broadleaved evergreen forests. Also in selectively logged forests, and mature secondary forests. Frim sea-level - 1,200 m.

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2020) and decreasing.
Status NT
Habitat loss through illegal logging and conversion to agriculture are the main threats.
