Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Mindanao White-eye (Heleia goodfellowi) and Javan Grey-throated White-eye (Heleia javanica). Subspecies heinrichi resembles Javan Grey-throated White-eye (Heleia javanica) very closely.

The following 6 subspecies are recognised:

heinrichi (Stresemann, 1931) - Tentolo-Matinan Mts, in north-western Sulawesi.
striaticeps Riley, 1918 - Mountains of north-central Sulawesi.
stresemanni (van Marle, 1940) - Mt Ambang and Mt Soputan, in north-eastern Sulawesi.
stachyrinus (Stresemann, 1932) - Latimojong Mts, in south-central Sulawesi.
squamiceps (Hartert, 1896) - Bonthain Peak (Lompobatang Mts), in southern Sulawesi.
analogus (Stresemann, 1932) - Mengkoka Mts, in south-eastern Sulawesi.
