Forests, coasts, mangroves, offshore islands. Some towns.
Voice
A pleasant, drawn out, downwards whistle, similar to that of a Bronze-Cuckoo, repeated irregularly. A short, musical, bell-like, double-note, 'tsu-wei'. A 'tsieeeuw'.

Nest
In a hollow of a tree, hole in a cliff or building or among clustered nests of a colony of Metallic Starling (Aplonis metallica). Usually in colonies.
Subspecies
No subspecies.
Genus name sometimes given as Aplornis. May form a superspecies with Tanimbar Starling (Aplonis crassa).
