Subspecies
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Mangrove Blue-Flycatcher (Cyornis rufigastra).
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:
omissus (Hartert, 1896) - Sulawesi. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Mangrove Blue-Flycatcher (Cyornis rufigastra).
peromissus Hartert, 1920 - Salayar I (off south-western Sulawesi). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Mangrove Blue-Flycatcher (Cyornis rufigastra).
djampeanus (Hartert, E, 1896) - Tanahjampea I. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Tanahjampea Blue-Flycatcher (Cyornis djampeanus).
kalaoensis (Hartert, E, 1896) - Kalao I (south of Tanahjampea). Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Mangrove Blue-Flycatcher (Cyornis rufigastra).
omississimus - Batudaka, the larger of the two main constituents of the Togian group.
