Nest
Saucer-shaped, composed of dried stalks of flowering plants, matted with cobweb, the inner portion consisting almost entirely of fine dried tendrils of plants, placed in the angle of a thin horizontal forked branch of a bushy tree.
Eggs (Guide)
2; slightly lustrous, white, dotted and spotted with shades of red and purple, concentrated at the larger end; oval; about 17 x 13 mm. Incubation: probably more than 14 days; by both sexes.

Altricial, nidicolous.

albigula Mayr & Meyer de Schauensee, 1939 - Western Papuan Is (Salawati, Misool) and western and north-central New Guinea.
novus Rothschild & Hartert, 1912 - North-eastern New Guinea.
xanthogenys Gray, GR, 1858 - Southern and south-eastern New Guinea and Aru Is.
flaviventer Gould, 1851 - Northern Australia (northern and eastern Cape York Peninsula).
secundus Mathews, 1912 - North-eastern Queensland (Shipton's Flat inland to Atherton Tablelands, and south to Townsville area).
