Subtropical and tropical lowland and montane moist forest.

Range (Guide)

Indonesia, Papua New Guinea.

Western Papuan Is (Waigeo, Batanta), mountains throughout New Guinea, and islands in Geelvink Bay (Meos Num I, Yapen I).

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Black-bibbed Cicadabird (Edolisoma mindanense), Sulawesi Cicadabird (Edolisoma morio) and Pale Cicadabird (Edolisoma ceramense), and all sometimes considered conspecific.
