Morotai, Halmahera, Kayoa, Kasiruta, Bacan and Obi, in northern Moluccas.

No subspecies.
Affinities uncertain. It has been considered to be part of the "Slender-billed Crow (Corvus enca ) complex", but its pale eyes suggest an affinity with Australian group of crows.
