Subspecies
Genus has occasionally been lumped with Aprosmictus. Forms a superspecies with Moluccan King-Parrot (Alisterus amboinensis).

The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

moszkowskii (Reichenow, 1911) - Northern New Guinea.
callopterus (D'Albertis & Salvadori, 1879) - Central New Guinea from Weyland Mts to R Fly.
chloropterus (Ramsay, 1879) - Eastern New Guinea.
