Habitat
Primary forest, trees in cultivated areas. From sea-level - 1,000 m, but occasionally as high as 1,900 m.

Range (Guide)

Indonesia (B).

Northern half of Sulawesi and associated islands.

Population
Estimated population is 45,000 (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Habitat destruction, degradation and fragmentation is the main threat.

Subspecies
Probably forms a superspecies with Green Racquet-tail (Prioniturus luconensis), Blue-crowned Racquet-tail (Prioniturus discurus) and debatably Sulu Racquet-tail (Prioniturus verticalis). Sometimes considered conspecific with Blue-crowned Racquet-tail (Prioniturus discurus).

No subspecies.
