Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

grisescens Mayr & Rand, 1936 - Northern New Guinea between Humboldt Bay and Kumusi R.
parva (Salvadori, 1875) - Lowland forests of rest of New Guinea, and D'Entrecasteaux Is.
