Habitat
Low altitude semi-evergreen forest containing large trees with a dense canopy. From sea-level - 950 m.

Indonesia (B) (NB).

Sumba (Lesser Sunda Is).

Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status VU
Habitat destruction and fragmentation stemming from small-scale logging, fuelwood collection and clearance for cultivation or pasture is the main threat.

Harsh clucking notes, short 'erm-err' and cackling 'kokokokoko'.
