Altricial. Fledge in about 20 - 28 days. Fed by both parents.

Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

iradii (Lembeye, 1850) - Cuba and I of Pines.
phoenicobia Gosse, 1847 - Jamaica; Hispaniola and nearby islands of Saona, Beata and Vache.
