Habitat
Dry forests and scrub, mainly arid, open-canopy deciduous thorn-forest. From sea-level - 1,220 m.

Range (Guide)

Honduras (B).

Arid interior valleys of northern and central Honduras.

Population
Estimated population is 250 - 999 (2010) and decreasing.

Status EN
Habitat destruction and degradation through cattle-grazing, clearance for plantation agriculture and cattle pastures, are the main threats.

Voice
A slightly metallic ticking, repeated steadily. Also buzzy chatters.

Subspecies
Genus sometimes lumped into Agyrtria. These two usually merged into Amazilia. Forms a superspecies with Mangrove Hummingbird (Amazilia boucardi).
