Subspecies
Subspecies orientalis, geographically separated from others, sometimes considered to represent a separate species. On other hand, cognominata sometimes synonymized with it.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
cabanisi Reichenow, 1875 - Western Africa locally from Guinea and Sierra Leone east to Cameroon, Gabon, PRCongo, northern DRCongo, southern Sudan and north-western Uganda.
cognominata (Grote, 1931) - Central Africa from Gabon, PRCongo and Angola east to western Zimbabwe.
orientalis (Shelley, 1882) - Tanzania south to eastern Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
