Subspecies
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Tawny Grassbird (Cincloramphus timoriensis).
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:
stresemanni (Hartert, 1930) - North-western New Guinea. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Tawny Grassbird (Cincloramphus timoriensis).
macrurus (Salvadori, 1876) - New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Tawny Grassbird (Cincloramphus timoriensis).
harterti (Mayr, 1931) - North-eastern New Guinea. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Tawny Grassbird (Cincloramphus timoriensis).
alpinus (Mayr & Rand, 1935) - High elevation west-central and central New Guinea. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Tawny Grassbird (Cincloramphus timoriensis).
interscapularis (Sclater, PL, 1880) - Bismarck Arch. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Tawny Grassbird (Cincloramphus timoriensis).
