Habits
Often in flocks with Scaly-breasted Munia (Lonchura punctulata).
Voice
A high-pitched piping 'pee-eet'. Song is a repititive, tinkling 'weeeeeeheeheeheeheehee' interspersed with bill-clicking.

Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
- maja (Linnaeus, 1766) - Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Java and southern Vietnam.
- vietnamensis Restall, 1995 - Vietnam.
