Subspecies
No subspecies.

Has been thought to form a superspecies with Black-chinned Weaver (Ploceus nigrimentus) and Baglafecht Weaver (Ploceus baglafecht), with Bannerman's Weaver (Ploceus bannermani) and Bates's Weaver (Ploceus batesi) regarded as part of same species group.
