Habitat
Temperate forest.

Range (Guide)
Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Canada (B) (P), Cayman Islands, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica (NB), Martinique, Mexico, Montserrat, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Pierre and Miquelon (B) (P), St Vincent and The Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, USA (B), Venezuela, Virgin Islands (British) (P), Virgin Islands (U.S.) (P).

Vagrant to Greenland, Portugal, United Kingdom.

Breeds from Canada (from central Northwest Territories, eastern British Columbia and central Alberta east to Newfoundland) south in USA to central Minnesota, central Wisconsin and New England, and south in Appalachians to West Virginia. Migrates to region from southern Mexico south to Nicaragua and, in smaller numbers, to central Panama and Caribbean.
 
Population
Estimated population is 30,000,000 (2010).

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Relationship with other members of genus uncertain. Has hybridized with Eastern Crowned Warbler (Phylloscopus coronatus).
