Extreme eastern Paraguay, south-eastern Brazil (southern Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo south to Santa Catarina) and north-eastern Argentina (Misiones).

Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.
Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through urbanisation, industrialisation, agricultural expansion, colonisation and associated road-building, are the main threats.
