Subspecies
Additional proposed subspecies are astilpna (described from Bokpyin, in Tenasserim), intensiflava (Kossoom, Tenasserim), copha (Tapanuli Bay, in north-western Sumatra), pleoxantha (Mt Lembu, on Nias I) and isopega (Pagai Is, off western Sumatra), all considered inseparable from nominate.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
chrysogenys (Temminck, 1826) - Extreme southern Myanmar (southern Tenasserim), southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Riau and Lingga Archipelagos, Sumatra and most satellites, western Borneo and western Java.
