Subspecies
Recent molecular-genetic analysis indicates that genus belongs in family Fringillidae.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
nitida (Penard, TE, 1923) - Extreme eastern Colombia (along R Orinoco), southern Venezuela (south of Orinoco) east to French Guiana, and northern Brazil north of R Amazon.
chrysopasta Sclater & Salvin, 1869 - South-eastern Colombia (from Meta) south through eastern Ecuador and eastern Peru to northern Bolivia, and western and central Brazil (east to R Xingu and, in eastern Pará, to R Tocantins).
