Subspecies
No subspecies.
Systematic position of genus uncertain. Probably closest to Neopelma, and both genera seem only distantly related to the typical piprids. Probably closer to the Tyrannidae but traditionally included in present family, where retained pending further study. Forms a superspecies with Dwarf Tyrant-Manakin (Tyranneutes stolzmanni). Ranges of the two approach one another closely, being separated by R Branco, lower R Negro and R Amazon.
