(Lesson, 1830)

Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. From sea-level - 1,050 m.

Range (Guide)
Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela.

Most of Amazonia, from south-eastern Colombia (east of Andes, from western Meta and Vaupés south to Amazonas), southern and eastern Venezuela (Amazonas, Bolí­var) and the Guianas south to eastern Ecuador, eastern Peru, northern Bolivia (La Paz, Beni, northern Santa Cruz) and southern and central Brazil (south to Rondônia, western and northern Mato Grosso, northern Tocantins, Pará and northern Maranhío).

Subspecies
Phylogenetic affinity of present species unknown. Has been suggested that it is closely related to Rose-throated Becard (Pachyramphus aglaiae), One-colored Becard (Pachyramphus homochrous) and Crested Becard (Pachyramphus validus), or even conspecific with Rose-throated Becard (Pachyramphus aglaiae) and One-colored Becard (Pachyramphus homochrous) and all are sometimes combined in a separate genus, Platypsaris, differing from present genus in nest shape and placement, as well as in some vocal and minor morphological characters.

No subspecies.
