Unknown to Somalia.

Lower R Tana valley, in eastern Kenya.

Estimated population is unknown (2010) and increasing.

Subspecies
Taxonomic status uncertain. Although ranked as a full species, is possibly either an aberrant Ashy Cisticola (Cisticola cinereolus) or a hybrid between Ashy Cisticola (Cisticola cinereolus) and Rattling Cisticola (Cisticola chiniana).
