Subspecies
No subspecies.
Often regarded as conspecific with Semicollared Flycatcher (Ficedula semitorquata) but differences in ecology and morphology suggest that treatment as separate species is more appropriate. Hybridizes with European Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) in areas of sympatry in central and eastern Europe.
