Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
viridiceps (Todd, 1929) - Ï»¿Southern Venezuela (Amazonas and Bolivar), eastern French Guiana, and northern Brazil south to R Solimoes and R Amazon (possibly also to Borba, on lower R Madeira), probably also eastern Colombia (eastern Vichada and eastern Guainia).
juruanus Gyldenstolpe, 1941 - North-western Brazil south of R Solimões (region of upper R Juruá and R Purús) and north-eastern Peru.
semicinereus Sclater & Salvin, 1867 - Northern Brazil south of lower R Amazon (from Pará and Maranhío, possibly from R Madeira, south to northern Mato Grosso) and extreme north-eastern Bolivia.
