Western Alaska and southern British Columbia east to eastern Quebec, and possibly northern Maine. Winters along Pacific coast south to Mexico (Sinaloa) and on Atlantic coast to Florida and Greater Antilles; in mild winters from Great Lakes to Gulf of Mexico.
