Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
ruficrissa Sclater, PL & Salvin, 1870 - Northern Colombia and north-western Venezuela.
ruficauda Jardine, 1847 - North-eastern Colombia, northern and north-eastern Venezuela (including Margarita I) and Tobago. Also Becquia I and Union I, Lesser Antilles, where probably introduced from Tobago.
