Habitat
Lowland evergreen rainforest, both primary and secondary forest, and occasionally in cultivated areas. From 700 - 1,200 m.
Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Côte dIvoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, Uganda.
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010).
Status LC
Habitat loss seems to be the main threat.

Fig seeds, millet, maize and other seeds, insects and their larvae.

Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- swindernianus (Kuhl, 1820) - Patchily distributed in Liberia, Ivory Coast and Ghana.
- zenkeri Reichenow, 1895 - Cameroon and Gabon east to southern Central African Republic and western Zaire.
- emini Neumann, 1908 - Central and eastern Zaire east to western Uganda.
