Habitat
Shrubland and woodland, often dominated by or including eremophila and grevillias, and sometimes with a sparse understorey of eucalypts, in arid and semi-arid zones.

Nest
Shallow, cup-shaped, composed of small twigs and grass, bound with cobweb, lined with fine grass, usually placed in a small bush or tree, up to about 4 m above the ground.

Eggs (Guide)
2 - 4; buff-grey, clearly spotted and blotched dusky; oval; about 22 x 16 mm. Incubation: about 12 - 13 days; by both sexes.

Young
Altricial, nidicolous. Fledge in about 10 days.

Subspecies
No subspecies.

Similar Species
Black Honeyeater (Sugomel nigrum) which is noticably smaller, proportionately shorter tail, thinner darker bill, lacks a small semi-circular patch of bare skin abutting the bottom of the eye, and in males the black extends down the throat and breast, and White-winged Triller (Lalage tricolor) which has a shorter, thicker bill and lack any black on the chin, throat and cheek.
