A 4-6-note trill, 'twill-ill-ill-ill-ill', and a shorter 'tsee-tsee'.

No subspecies.
Mirafra degodiensis (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993; Dowsett and Forbes-Watson 1993) has been lumped with Gillett's Lark (Mirafra gilletti) following Collar et al. (2009).
Usually considered to form a superspecies with Gillett's Lark (Mirafra gilletti).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Gillett's Lark (Mirafra gilletti).
Similar Species
Gillett's Lark (Mirafra gilletti) which has very different song, Pink-breasted Lark (Calendulauda poecilosterna) which has pinkish wash on breast.
