Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
- leucura (Gmelin, 1789) - Eastern Portugal, Spain and extreme southern France.
- syenitica (Heuglin, 1869) - North-western Africa east to north-western Libya (Jebel Nafusa).
- riggenbachi (Hartert, 1909) - Extreme north-western Mauritania to Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya.
