Vagrant to Algeria, Benin, China (mainland), C�te dIvoire, Cyprus, France, Ghana, Hungary, Malta, Oman, Spain, Syrian Arab Republic, Togo.

Introduced to Austria, Belgium (B), Denmark (B), Netherlands Antilles (B), United Arab Emirates (B), United Kingdom (B) (NB).

Africa south of Sahara, Nile Valley. Introduced in Britain.

Estimated population is 210,000 - 510,000 (2010).

Voice
Mostly silent. Male, a husky, wheezing. Female, a high-pitched 'hur, hur, hur, hur'.
