Subspecies
Peculiar lark of uncertain affinities. Has sometimes been placed in genus Galerida, and considered by some to form a superspecies with Sun Lark (Galerida modesta) and Large-billed Lark (Galerida magnirostris), but differences too great for such treatment to be warranted.
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:
fremantlii (Lort Phillips, 1897) - Somalia and south-eastern Ethiopia.
megaensis (Benson, 1946) - Southern Ethiopia and northern Kenya.
delamerei (Sharpe, 1900) - Southern Kenya and northern Tanzania.
